Video Editing

Before last year, I dabbled some in video editing, but late last year, I began to start editing anime music videos, or AMVs. AMVs are videos that take video footage from an anime or video game and edit them to become a music video for a song or other audio clip.

Now, I am frequently editing in my spare time, playing with concepts for AMVs or learning new special effects. I primarily edit with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.

Half-Blood Princes and Full-Metal Alchemists... a natural combination! In celebration of the 6th Harry Potter movie, I took the audio from the trailers, mashed them up, and placed clips from Fullmetal Alchemist to the audio! It's pretty cool how well Fullmetal Alchemist and Harry Potter go together, and in some ways I think this is better than any of the real Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince out there! For your listening pleasure, the audio is in its original 5.1 channel surround-sound glory.

I believe that this is the best AMV I have created. It sets Death Note to the song "Ashes" by Embrace. It is a drama and a tribute to Light Yagami, and addresses the question, "what if Light hadn't become evil?" The story is told in color when time is going backwards, and in black and white when time is going forwards. At the end though, time comes together to reach the ultimate conclusion of the story.

A Kingdom Hearts AMV set to the song 'Into the Galaxy' by the Midnight Juggernauts, an indie band from Australia. My friend got me hooked on this song for a while, and soon afterwards I began having visions of scenes from Kingdom Hearts as I listened to this song. Naturally, an AMV followed. The AMV is kind of an action/upbeat AMV, and the music has a great beat that always makes me want to get up and dance!

My first AMV, an action mashup of Final Fantasy VIII clips set to 'The World' by Nightmare. That song is also the first opening for Death Note. It feels like so long ago that I made this! Since it was my first AMV, well, here it is for your viewing pleasure! I know the quality sucks, and it's the only one I've ever released in WMV format, but come on, it was my first foray into serious video editing! I think it turned out pretty well.
